This page lists the Terms and Conditions for the Journal of Psychological Experience (JPsyExp).
- Introduction
Journal of Psychological Experience (or "JPsyExp") is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, ethical publishing practices, and scholarly rigour. These Terms and Conditions outline the policies and guidelines that govern the submission, review, publication, and use of content within our journal. By engaging with JPsyExp in any capacity—as an author, reviewer, editor, or reader—you agree to abide by these terms.
- Editorial Policies
2.1 Aims and Scope
JPsyExp is dedicated to advancing psychological insights from underrepresented voices that transform our understanding of the human mind and behaviour. We welcome submissions from all subfields of psychology, with a particular focus on innovative research, theories, and methodologies that challenge conventional wisdom.
2.2 Peer Review Process
All submissions to JPsyExp undergo a rigorous, double-blind peer review process. Our commitment to transparency means that, upon publication, the names of the handling editor and reviewers may be made public alongside the article (with their permission).
2.3 Publication Ethics
JPsyExp adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We expect all parties involved in the publication process to uphold the highest ethical standards.
- Author Guidelines
3.1 Originality and Plagiarism
All submissions must be original work that has not been previously published or is not under consideration elsewhere. JPsyExp uses plagiarism detection methods to ensure the originality of all submissions.
3.2 Authorship
All listed authors must meet the criteria for authorship as outlined by the Contributor Role Taxonomy (CRediT). The corresponding author takes primary responsibility for communication with the journal and must ensure that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.
3.3 Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could be perceived as influencing their work. This includes financial, personal, or professional relationships that could bias their research.
3.4 Data Availability
Authors are required to make their data available to readers, either by depositing it in a public repository or by providing it upon reasonable request. Exceptions may be made for sensitive or confidential data.
3.5 Use of AI Tools
Authors must disclose any use of artificial intelligence tools in the preparation of their manuscript, including the specific tools used and their role in the writing process.
- Copyright and Licensing
4.1 Copyright Retention
Authors retain copyright of their work. By submitting to JPsyExp, authors grant the journal the full right to publish their work under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).
4.2 Open Access
All articles published in JPsyExp are immediately and freely available to read, download, and share under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.
- Publication Fees
5.1 Article Processing Charges (APC)
JPsyExp charges an APC for each article accepted for publication. The current APC rates are available on our website. We do not offer refunds after an article has been accepted for publication and APC has been paid.
5.2 Payment Terms
The corresponding author assumes responsibility for paying the APC upon acceptance of the manuscript and prior to final publication.
- Post-Publication Policies
JPsyExp is committed to upholding the integrity of the academic record. In rare instances, it may be necessary to issue corrections, retractions, or remove content to ensure the accuracy and ethical standing of published material.
6.1 Corrections and Retractions
Errors in published articles that impact accuracy but do not fundamentally undermine the conclusions may be addressed through a Correction notice. At the discretion of the editorial team, a Correction will be published, indexed, and bidirectionally linked to the original article. The notice will detail the specific alterations made to ensure clarity and maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
6.2 Retractions
In exceptional cases where the interpretation or conclusions of an article are significantly compromised, a retraction may be necessary. Editorial decisions to retract are guided by the reliability of the article and the confidence in its findings, in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. Retractions are intended to correct the academic record and are not punitive. A Retraction notice will be published, indexed, and bidirectionally linked to the original article, which will be watermarked as retracted and prefixed with “Retracted article:” in the title.
6.3 Removal of Published Content
In rare circumstances, JPsyExp may remove content from its online platforms. Such action may be taken if: (i) the content is deemed defamatory, infringes on intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights, or is otherwise unlawful; (ii) a court or government order mandates removal, or such an order is likely; or (iii) the content poses an immediate and serious risk to health. Removal may be temporary or permanent. Bibliographic metadata, such as title and authors, will be retained, accompanied by a statement explaining the reason for removal. Authors, readers, or organisations identifying errors or ethical concerns are encouraged to contact JPsyExp. The editorial team will review all reports, seeking expert advice as needed to determine the appropriate course of action.
6.4 Appeals and Complaints
Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions. All appeals and complaints will be handled in accordance with our published policies.
- Use of Published Content
7.1 Permitted Use
Readers may freely read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles published in JPsyExp, in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 license.
7.2 Attribution
Any use of JPsyExp content must be properly attributed to the original authors and the journal.
- Privacy and Data Protection
JPsyExp is committed to protecting the privacy of all individuals involved in the publication process. We collect and use personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
- Data Fabrication and Falsification
JPsyExp maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards data fabrication and falsification. Authors are expected to present their research findings honestly and without any manipulation, invention, or omission of data. Any form of data fabrication, falsification, or deliberate misrepresentation of results is considered a severe breach of research ethics and will result in immediate rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the published article. If data fabrication or falsification is suspected, the journal reserves the right to request raw data, conduct further investigation, and inform the authors' institutions or funding bodies as appropriate. Authors found to have engaged in such behaviours may face sanctions, including but not limited to, a ban on future submissions to JPsyExp.
